The Floating Mug Company is on the cusp of launching the next significant innovation in drinkware since the "double-wall" glass. We've used a single product, available in one size and only one color, to provide a solid proof of concept with $100K in sales. Our vision is to manufacture and market a line of products beyond the Floating Mug®, that will ultimately define a new category in drinkware.

Drip-Catch™ Design: The action of sipping a beverage, multiple times, from a single point on the mouth of a mug, results in a slight drip — leading to moisture stains on furniture. Our patented design works exceptionally well to control the flow of this moisture by raising the mug off the furniture, allowing the moisture to evaporate before it can tarnish furniture.

Strength: The handle on The Floating Mug® is strong enough to support the weight of a half-gallon container of water! This marvel not only looks beautiful, but is well balanced and structurally sound.

Innovation: The Floating Mug® design reinvents the common mug while preserving the warm, comforting feel of traditional porcelain. The thoughtful design and aesthetics were achieved successfully while avoiding the use of non-traditional materials like metals and plastics.

In our founder, Tigere Chiriga’s, household, coasters are strategically placed in key locations both for family members and house guests. However, there just never seemed to be enough to cover all the bases — leaving the furniture subject to occasional stains.

In 2008, Tigere focused intently on trying to find inspiration for his new design. It just so happens that while reaching for a banana, inspiration struck when he noticed the silhouette of the banana holder.

He had previously found various designs for travel mugs attempting to integrate coasters but they fell short of the perfect solution. They were clunky, gimmicky and “would not meet the wife’s approval,” as something worthy of household decor. Nothing compares to the comforting feel of warm porcelain wrapped around a hot beverage. Therefore, in Tigere's mind, the mug had to be made of porcelain while also capitalizing on its functionality and aesthetics; ergo, the floating mug was born.
