STEP INTO THE SHADOWS.

Shadows of The Mind is a Dance Production directed, produced and choreographed by a local young and talented artist, Tai D. White. This up and coming dancer/producer uses the dance art forms for two purposes: to entertain and to educate.

Shining a light on the issues.

In this show, his introduction into Dance Theatre as a producer, Tai uses his creativity and vision to address a lot of the social issues that the youth deal with in everyday life, such as teen age pregnancy, drugs, peer pressure, abuse, self-esteem, and spiritualism, through dance.

Moving Forward.

The Shadows of the Mind resonate in Tai’s work through the Cast silhouettes, contours, and shapes. These shadows emerge in White’s choreography and are illustrated in proximity through the dancers’ freedom of expression.

The Shadows that are formed in our minds come to life on stage as they follow and observe closely and typically secretly its performer – the shadow’s host. Each piece creatively explores the ominous oppressiveness, murkiness, sadness, darkness and gloom of that is often self inflicted by our own inter conflict and issues. White’s goal is that The Shadow of the Minds will liberate its audiences, particular our youth, by inspiring them to turn their shadows into a light; leaving them feeling empowered and ready to embrace the world.

The process...

We have a vision that speaks for itself. The journey is the most rewarding part of this showcase. The dancers bring headshots, action shots, resumes, and must work through a vigorous audition process in order to make it to the reheasal process. The dancers train physically through cardio and strength building warm-ups and technique classes before they even learn a step. We enjoy the process of fortifying discipline and watching the dancer prepare to embody the mission of the project mentally, phyiscally, and artsically. We believe such a work must be performed in excellence
