Resition is a web-based outplacement solution that transitions downsizing companies’ laid off workers to new jobs fast by connecting them with their own personal career coaches to complete a socially driven, milestone-based job search program.  To date, we've been featured in Columbus Business First, The Metropreneur, and Nibletz.

Currently, small and medium sized companies conducting layoffs have to choose between high cost, brick-and-mortar outplacement services, or, low cost, web-based outplacement services that lack personalization.  Resition bridges this gap by providing companies a high quality, web-based outplacement solution at a cost to customers that is 50% lower than traditional competitors.

Here's how Resition works:

Downsizing companies purchase Resition and provide it to their laid workers who are then matched with their own personal career coaches on the Resition platform.  Together they complete a socially driven, milestone-based job search program, which includes: one-on-one video chat meetings, personality and values assessments, resume editing, and job application organization.  While completing the job search program, laid off workers can invite their friends to help them with their job search by becoming "supporters".

Founders

Mike Chapman met with hundreds of people who were recently laid off while working as an Admission Counselor at a central Ohio community college.  In his discussions with them, he realized that the career transition process for laid off workers was out of date and in need of reinvention, leveraging modern day technology like video chat, collaborative document editing, and social media.  Mike has a master's degree from Ohio State University.

Chris Domino is a software architect who has built web solutions for companies like New Balance and the YMCA.  He's built Resition from the ground up.  Chris graduated from Miami University (OH) where he majored in Computer Science and Mathematics.

Walter Akana worked as a career coach at Lee Hecht Harrison, Right Management, and the IMPACT Group. In addition to being an industry renowned career coach, Walter has also developed a niche specialty in personal branding.  Walter has a master's degree from Columbia University.

Parker MacDonell is a seasoned financial services and business executive whose personal mission includes helping others succeed in business. He assists business owners with capital formation, succession planning, goal setting and value creation. As a member of the Executive Committee of, and an investor in, the Ohio TechAngel Fund, Parker assists entrepreneurs with the growth of their emerging businesses. He is an active angel investor in fourteen companies. He co-founded a highly successful entertainment venture in Columbus and a Nashville-based publishing company.

Joel Gerber has over twenty-five years of experience in product development, executive management, and marketing. Over the course of his career he has launched two internal start-ups for Sterling Commerce that resulted in $80M in annual revenue. Recently he helped turn around a mobile security start-up, resulting in a successful exit. As Senior VP of Technology at Blue Diesel, Joel blends vision, technical knowledge, and creativity to engineer business solutions for leading companies.

Randy Trombly has over twenty-five years of human resources experience in companies ranging from startups to corporations. From the late '90s to early '00s, he served as the number two human resources executive at AOL where he was responsible for 16,000 employees in the United States, Ireland, India, and Philippines. Since his time at AOL, Randy started his own college admission coaching business and currently serves as a human resources consultant in the banking industry.
