Popcorn is based on a proven video streaming technology called Vidwala (vidwala.com) that has over 25,000 users.  

Simply upload videos from your devices, desktop etc. and create amazing looking video albums for each memorable moment in your life.  The idea for this app came from our own need. We have few new parents among us and wanted to share our precious first-everything with grandmas and cousins around the world. Uploading to Facebook comes with size restrictions, restrictions on use of music, and lower quality default play back. We decided to create this app to simplify private video sharing among family and friends.

Here is how it works.

You can use videos stored in your  smartphone/tablet  directly or any video that you have on your laptop/ desktop via our Web backend.  The only time you need to use the web backend is when you want to upload from desktop, dropbox, etc.  Videos from your smartphone/tablet devices can be attached to an album instantly. Your device videos will then automatically get stored on the private cloud where all your videos get crunched for adaptive streaming and sharing.

When you tap a video clip, it plays and shows the description and comments from your friends and family. Your friends and family can leave text or video comments!

You can share any video in any album with another member of your family or friend circle. If they don't have Popcorn, they can be sent a link to download the app and view your video.  Viewers do not have to pay anything to view videos. 

Can I share with all my friends and family?

Any user with a Personal Account can share videos with as many friends and family members or contacts. There is no charge for viewing shared videos. 

A Family Account user can share her videos and also *gift* the app to up to 10 friends and family members. This way her closest circle of ten people do not have to pay for any video sharing.

Similarly, our Your World account allows you to get 100 user accounts for one hundred of your favorite friends and families so that they don't have to purchase the app and still be able to upload videos in a combined 500 GB (half a terabyte) video storage!

Can I still share my videos to Facebook, Twitter, etc?

Yes you can. Each link will bring the user back to their video album app and start playing the video you shared.  If they do not have the app, they will be promoted to download it. Viewing videos is free and therefore they can always add video to watch shared videos.

Is Android Platform Supported?

Yes, we will create android version once iPhone and iPad version is completed.

What format do you support?

We convert any major format like .mov, mp4, etc. to adaptive streaming (HLS) videos and MPEG-4 (H.264) formats. The HLS versions are used for streaming to devices and MP4 version is used to download if you allow downloading.

Can I use this for my business?

Videographers or other video production businesses might want to use this to showcase their portfolio. However, for businesses we offer branded version at additional one-time cost.
