We offer 2 differentiating services: straight razor shaves and sugaring. Straight razor shaves are the classic way to get a clean-shaven look, and they call to mind a true barbershop experience. Sugaring is an ancient Middle-Eastern hair-removal practice that is all natural and doesn’t involve any heat or lasers. It works better than waxing without any of the pain or danger.

We’ve been trained by top designers in the craft to perfect our art and provide the community with high-quality services. Here at Mar B. Hair Design, we combine our years of experience and knowledge to put our customers’ needs first.

We make it easier than ever to make an appointment. You can book online or from your smartphone no matter where you are or what time it is. We are also setting it up so that you can pay with Apple Pay or Google Wallet.

It’s hard to find salons that offer these quality and niche services, but we plan to change that for the Pittsburg area!

Results last up to 6 weeks, and whatever body part you can get waxed, you could also get sugared. Though the two are similar in many ways, sugaring is a better way to remove hair for a number of reasons.

Even though sugaring does remove the hair at the root, it is significantly less painful than waxing. Unlike waxing, the sugar paste is pulled in the direction of the hair growth. Waxing pulls against the hair growth, which puts a strain on the hair and causes the sharp pain you feel when the wax is pulled off. Since sugaring pulls with the grain, there is no hair strain and no pain!

Sugar paste is also used when lukewarm, so there’s no chance of getting burned, like what can happen with hot wax. Sugaring also only removes dead cells, instead of all cells, which makes it perfect for delicate skin.

Much like waxing, sugaring uses a sugar paste or gel that is applied to the skin and then pulled on to remove hair.

This makes it perfect for sensitive skin, and it also means that you can wash the sugar paste off with water!

We know what you’re asking: if sugaring is so much better than waxing, why aren’t more people using it? Sugaring is less used because it is a lot harder to find, but we want to change that for the Pittsburgh area.

J.B. Walker was raised 45 minutes outside of the Pittsburgh area in a small town called Saltsburg. After graduation J.B. moved to Washington D.C to live and work. After three short years of working and living in the Washington D.C area, J.B. followed his family tradition and joined the U.S. Army. Serving honorably for six years, with assignments to Joint Base Lewis McChord, Baghdad, Iraq, Camp Red Cloud, Korea and Ft Hood. While on assignment in Korea J.B. would meet his best friend and business partner Michael Davis. After serving his country J.B. moved back to the Pittsburgh area to attend school and impact the Pittsburgh area.

Michael S. Davis, COO

Michael Davis grew up in the St. Louis area before joining the U.S Army. After serving in Korea for two years, transferred into the reserve were he still services. Michael is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Management with the attention to go to medical school this fall.

Though we are still in the planning phases of Mary B. Hair Design, we’ve taken some great steps to lay the groundwork for our success.

We’ve hired YouTube’s former COO to build our content platform and ensure that we are appealing to our market through a simple, sleek, user-friendly website.

We have more than 800 Facebook friends and more than 700 LinkedIn connections to pitch our idea to, and once we’re ready to, we will send out press in the local newspaper, the major local paper, social media, and through word of mouth from our stylists who already have customers.

We also plan to advertise great deals through Groupon and Living Social and by networking with local businesses to offer discounts to their employees.

We are currently looking for the perfect location, but we can’t pick out the location until we have the capital. That’s where you come in!
