Pitchin' the Plaid

At Mad Plaid, it is our goal to provide the best product and services possible. We strive to do so with efficiency and accuracy.  We try to go the extra mile to show our commitment to customer service. Our relationship with our local communities is important to us. We appreciate everyone who comes through our door - whether you are there for a lesson, to make a purchase or just to browse, we thank you for taking the time to come in.

What We Do With Our Day

We are a full service, retail music store. We provide lessons in piano, guitar (acoustic, electric and bass) ukulele, drums/percussion, orchestral strings and all of the band instruments.  We also have instrument rentals available and provide instrument repair services. In addition to the retail inventory we carry, we also have consignments available. If we do not have what you're looking for, chances are we can order it for you. Just ask!

How We're Different

The night before he passed away, Scott's last post on Facebook said it all:

"I love the kids who come into the store with a big old smile on their faces. The ones who love to come to their lessons, and you can tell truly enjoy them, the ones looking forward to learning music. They make this job awesome, and their smiles and happiness are totally infectious. Thanks kids."

We make our students our priority. We love what we do - it's why we kept the music store open. Music is an important part of our life; it's a passion that we want to share with others.

And yes, thanks kids. You make it all worth while and we love you.

Goals for Growth

At Mad Plaid, we know that we have room to grow. It is our goal to continue to grow our lesson and rental programs, expand our vendor lines and our in-store inventory and keep fresh products and ideas flowing through our store at all times. We also know that areas of our store need a facelift. The bathroom needs a remodel, the lesson area needs a new paint job and some new furniture - and the entire store needs new carpeting! Plus, we want to paint the exterior of our building so that we really stand out!

Team Mad Plaid

Tricia Wolf - President/Owner

Please let me know how I can help you

My fiancee and I took over the music store in May of 2013. Sadly, he passed away in February of 2015 and since his passing, I have been on this adventure with the help of my daughter. I officially took over ownership, 100% on July 1, 2015 and it is my hope to make our store thrive. I am doing everything I can to ensure that there is a music store in our little town; a place for our students to come take lessons and get any accessories or supplies that they need.

Supporter and cheerleader of Mad Plaid Music

Lauren is my daughter. She's 11 1/2 and has been my strongest supporter since I took over the store. I could not do the adventure without her. She has been simply amazing and I am one blessed Mommy. ~ Tricia

Scott

In loving memory

Scott was my fiancee and Lauren's stepdad and a strong music advocate. He played several instruments and was our brass repair tech. In college, Scott (Chester, named after Manchester Hall at ISU) was a member of the BRMM at ISU, marching Tuba. After college, he marched drum corps with the Racine Kilties - marching contra. When possible, he made his way out west to march the Chinese New Year parade with the San Francisco Renegades Drum and Bugle Corps; because he loved his SF Renegades. His goal with the music store was to provide a place where students could come take lessons - that's why he bought the store when his boss planned to close it. Being a brass repair tech brought him a sense of accomplishment like nothing else. Knowing that he was able to fix a broken horn and make it play music again brought him great satisfaction. The man loved music and bled plaid. We couldn't have gotten this far without him.
