Light Your Path & Be Seen!

Knuckle Lights are the first and only LED light designed to be worn on the front of your hands, in a perfect position to light your path and be seen on your next run or walk in the dark.

The extra-wide flood beams move with the natural motion of your arms, providing an even, steady amount of light that illuminates the entire area in front of you.  At 45 Lumens, each light is as powerful as most mid-priced headlamps, so you get twice the amount of light in a comfortable, easy to use option that is a better light for running.

The Product

Knuckle Lights are designed to light up a path during nighttime and early morning activities as well as provide safety, as it is a great way to be seen by drivers.

Each set includes 2 Knuckle Lights, one for each hand, giving double flood beams for maximum light.  At 45 Lumens on high power, each light is as powerful as most mid-priced headlamps.  Knuckle Lights secure to your hands with a comfortable silicone strap, which is completely adjustable to fit any size hand and will even expand to fit over gloves.  The units will stay on your hand and there is no need to grip the unit.

Advantages of Knuckle Lights:

The lights are closer to the ground than other options, providing a greater amount of light right where you need it. Also, with the lights on your hands you can easily point the light in any direction quickly, for example to flash at an oncoming car.

Knuckle Lights also promotes good running form--having the lights on your knuckles keeps your arms up in the proper running position, and you will notice if you are over-pumping your arms.

We believe Knuckle Lights are a cool looking product that is fun and easy to wear--a nice alternative to the coal miner look of a headlamp.

With two units at 45 Lumens each, it is a better value than other comparable lights--you get twice the amount of light for about the same price.

Since Knuckle Light  are on your hands, you do not get any "Steam Blindness" that occurs with headlamps in cold weather, which is caused because your eyes are between your mouth and the headlamp, so when you exhale your breath clouds your vision momentarily.

Traction

Knuckle Lights has grown quickly in the first two years of operation.  We started selling exclusively through our website and then moved into running specialy stores.  We gained shelf space in well over 200 running specialty stores in the U.S. including multiple Fleet Feet Sports, Blue Mile and Second Sole, and are growing quickly.

We also recently shipped our first orders for Dick's Sporting Goods!  Knuckle Lights are currently available for sale on the Dick's Sporting Goods website and will be on their shelves nationwide in May 2013.

What People Are Saying...

I found Knuckle Lights to be the best solution for night time running and I have tried them all: “L” shaped flashlights, mini flashlights, and headlamps. In addition, the inconvenience of wearing a headlamp is compounded for people like me who always wear a sweat band.

I'm not a runner, but I recently purchased Knuckle Lights for walking my dog in the evening they are absolutely awesome! Very comfortable in my hands, even while holding the dog's leash. Thanks for a great product that helps keep us safe.

You guys made my 2nd ever night run FAN-FLIPPIN-TASTIC!  I used my Knuckle Lights for the very first time on my run tonight...during the first snow of the season on a busy night in my small city! The lights were great! I was able to focus more on my run instead of straining to see puddles or cracks in the sidewalks or worrying that nobody could see me...and the many cars I passed all gave me plenty of room because they saw me so much sooner! I also used my free gifts (reflective band and red flashing light). Thanks so much!!!

My wife gave me Knuckle Lights for Christmas.  I wore them at 6AM this morning (Dec.26) and they were like wearing headlights! I dodged some black ice due to the visibility!

I saw Knuckle Lights in SELF Magazine and I thought they looked like a great idea.  My husband and I are now in training mode for some races this spring. We both work so we have to run after work and at this time of year it's dark by the time we get home. There aren't any well lit places to run around here so we had been carrying flashlights. However, they still didn't provide much light and I was constantly worried that we weren't very visible to cars. I finally decided that we had to give Knuckle Lights a try. We got them last week and all I can say is WOW! What a difference! They light up the road so much better and cars can see us without any problem! I love that I can wear them over gloves when it's cold and that we can both still carry our water bottles while wearing the lights. We love our Knuckle Lights! Thanks for coming up with this brilliant idea! When we both set new PRs at our next race, we'll have Knuckle Lights to thank for enhancing our training!

About the Business and Team

Dan Hopkins, Founder and President:  Prior to Knuckle Lights, Dan was a sales executive and manager for several large companies for over a decade.  He also started and solely managed a start-up company from 2005-2008 and was a partner in Portland Corporate Games, an annual sports tournament for local businesses.  Dan is responsible for the daily operations of the business as well as heading the sales and marketing efforts.  Dan graduated with an MBA from George Fox University and has the knowledge, experience, and people skills to lead the organization to success.  Dan is also an active runner, competing in multiple events per year.  The idea for Knuckle Lights came about one January morning when Dan was out for a 5am run and the weather caused a particularly dark morning.  Dan usually carried a flashlight but was becoming annoyed with carrying in his hands while running and so left the house without it that day.  Several near falls and scary moments made him want to create something that a normal runner would be more willing to wear to illuminate a path during those nighttime or early morning runs.

Angela Hood, Marketing Director: Angela has over a decade of helping companies tailor and manage their marketing messages, as well as running public relations campaigns.  She has worked for several successful start-up companies and most recently began her own consultancy to use and share her knowledge.  Angela’s first time running with Knuckle Lights was during Hood to Coast Relay and she immediately made the switch to using Knuckle Lights for her daily morning runs.  For years, she had been running with a flashlight, which didn’t light the path very well, and she was never confident that oncoming traffic could see her.  Knuckle Lights, addressed all of those issues.  Because of how enthusiastically she embraced the product, Angela jumped at the chance to put her advertising and marketing background to use.

Brent Peterson, VP of Sales: Brent has a decade of experience selling to large retailers such as Costco, Wal-Mart, Fred Meyers, and others.  He has recently joined Knuckle Lights and is leading the sales effort into national sporting goods retailers as well as handling the sales effort into running and sports specialty stores.
