Introduction & Business Plan

Introduction

My name is Drew Baker, my partner's name is Daniel Almand, and together we have over ten years of experience in being self-employed; we have bought and sold three stores in the past seven years while currently owning and operating two rental car franchises here in Austin, Texas.  I am seeking business funds in the amount of  $15,000 that will help us finish out our new retail outlet; funds will be allocated for a new cash register, some inventory, light fixtures, doors and shelving and a safe

Business Description

Our current corporation Txus Capital Corporation is twenty months old, and we wish to expand its presence by opening a wing of the Texas Hill Country in Austin, Texas. Located at 1804 W 35th St, it's just two doors down from our current operation (which we will continue to operate) and less than one mile from prestigious neighborhoods of Bryker Woods and Tarrytown.  Hill Country Annex is a niche retail outlet catering to Hill Country Farmers and Producers that fit the GO TEXAN criteria. The Annex will bring local products to the community.

Management and Operations

TXUS Capital Corporation is owned by Andrew Baker 100%, His partner & himself will manage the marketing, inventory, sales and purchases equally. The location will be open Monday through Friday 10am to 6pm & Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

Products and Services

To promote local products from Texas farmers, wineries, vineyards, blacksmiths, furniture makers, and craftsmen from a variety of other specialties. Retail prices vary from $7.00 to $250.00. We have recently obtained special pricing from over 30 local hill country establishments, including: Kerrville Hills Winery, Bell Springs Winery, Spicewood Vineyards, Grape Creek Vineyards, Solaro Estate, Fall Creek Vineyards, Flat Creek Estate, Sister Creek Vineyards, Becker Vineyards, Wimberly Winery, Wildseed Farms, Love Creek Orchards, New Canaan Farms, Whittington's Jerky, Culinary Cowgirls, Lefty's, Nuluv Nubians, Drippin' Sauce, Texas Wild Farms, Bird Man Bird Feeders, Beauty By Hand Bath Salts, Rockin' M Specialty Foods, Rodeo Rick Trading Company, Custom Rustic Furniture Company, Char's Vinyl and Gifts, Richard Chestnut's Woodshop, Mennonite Heritage Woodworks, Richard Wegner Blacksmiths, Unique Fantasies in Wood.

These are just some of many suppliers whose products we intend to carry. By showcasing these local products in a larger market, especially an affluent neighborhood such as Tarrytown and Bryker Woods, Hill Country Annex is going to thrive!

Industry and Competition

Hill Country Annex has virtually no competition when catering to Hill Country Farmers and Producers. We are truly unique in our venture. Peak sales months are March through July and again September through December. The location is situated in an affluent neighborhood allowing the sales latitude of higher end products.

Marketing Plan

GOAL:

I intend to have a successful year of growth and profitability. I fully intend to grow Hill Country Annex to profit in the next 12 months. I know that is an aggressive goal but it's attainable.

Our strategy is based on improving the existing relationships that we have cultivated, through other business ventures and aggressively developing new ones. There are a large number of residential, retail and commercial enterprises that are within a few miles of the retail store; considerable effort will be made to establish contact with these potential sources of customers and to create a local brand of quality; hard to find products that no one else has.

Also:.

  • We will be consistent in our efforts to create an image of being apart of the of the local neighborhood, including creating a presence in the community as it pertains to schools, HOA's and other clusters of businesses and residents.

  • We have joined our neighborhood's BOA (brykerwoods.org) we have taken a full page ad out in their quarterly newsletter and intend to market directly monthly to all members of the brykerwoods HOA as well as the BOA with door hangers and mailers, which consist of about a thousand members.

  • We have joined the Austin gay and lesbian chamber of commerce. (AGLLC)

  • We will continue our memberships with HRC as well as Gay yellow pages and Gay Austin Pages.

  • We also intend to sponsor the Austin's pride parade once again this year, though the theme hasn't been chosen just yet.

Financial Plan

Hill Country Annex projects that it will spend on a monthly basis as follows:

  1. Rent, Utilities, Insurance, Marketing ( $2250.00)

  2. Website Maintenance ($1,250.00)

  3. Cost of goods ($1,900.00)

We have pre-orders in place with a few restaurant's for our specialty limited production wines and marinades; roughly $1,700.00 a month.

The raised funds will be allocated for store fixtures including a new cash register (pos) shelving, light fixtures and inventory.

Our Passion

To sum it up, is Keep it Local: by Texans, for Texans. The amount of talent and honest integrity that goes into each and every hand-made product, great food, and wonderful wine is admirable. We buy local where we can because we know that by investing in our local economy, we are doing our part in supporting our neighbors. That in itself is nearly rewarding enough; having the chance to share these products with more people will be even better.
