Welcome to Empower One's Fundable campaign! This fundraise will allow us to build a new medical record-sharing platform and empower you to take control of your, or your loved ones’, medical records. Currently, there is no such thing as a consolidated medical record. Your records are divided among all the health care providers you have ever seen. Aren't you tired of all those providers' patient portals, none of which will "talk" to each other? The medical world is at least 20 years behind the rest of the world in terms of digital connectivity. Empower is building a bridge to bring it into the 21st century.

The essential next step for Empower One is to raise $206,000 to fund coding of the software and getting advice from some experts (in other words, lawyers and marketers). And for that we need you.  Nowhere else can you sign up for an early subscription by making a contribution that is so much less than what will be the retail price.

If you are interested in pre-ordering--or just think this is an awesome thing we're doing--please pledge at the $250, $500 or $1,000 level to reserve your subscription. Thank you!

Empower One is a cloud-based platform accessible by a computer or mobile device that allows users to upload their medical records, search for key words across every file, and send them by fax or encrypted email to their chosen providers. We don’t restrict recipients or contents in any way, so users can send dental records, diagnostic reports, physician notes, or anything else in their personal digital files. Empower users will pay one annual subscription fee for initial and subsequent scanning and uploading of paper copies of their records.

Empower One, Inc., an Alexandria, Virginia based company, is designing the technology that will give you and your family the peace of mind that comes with constant control over your medical records, regardless of which health care providers you see or insurance you use.

Empower One is an individualized medical record management solution that has been designed with you at the center, from the very beginning. Empower One consists of two main components:  Empower One Online Access (access via any computer with internet access) and the Empower One mobile app (for both Android and iPhone). This simple, seamless solution enables you to take unprecedented control of your medical records.

Access, SEARCH, and transmit any or all of your medical records from anywhere in the world
Receive a push notification to your smartphone when a new record has posted to your account or a transmission is successfully sent
Receive notifications whenever your account is accessed
Monitor who accesses your records and when
Receive an alert if your transmission is unsuccessful

Empower One is designed to replace your portals or binders full of medical paperwork. Just think -- you’ll never again need to ask your doctor’s office every time you need a record sent out! And the Empower One solution supports access to as many as 10 of your health care advocates. Now your designated family members and friends will have access to your medical records, using only their smartphones, if you authorize them to have it.

A single subscription of Empower One includes:

  • Scanning of up to 150 physical pages of documents (U.S. and Canada) every 12 months
  • Or conversion of existing digital records to searchable documents for up to 150 pages of digital documents (U.S. and Canada) every 12 months
  • Instructions on how to request documents from health care facilities and providers
  • Warranty information
  • A high quality thumb drive with the Empower One logo (because everyone loves thumb drives!)

Note: Additional thumb drives are available for those who want to introduce a friend to Empower One.

One frustrating day a little over two years ago, Empower One founder Steve Genung was sending an encrypted email to a specialty pharmacy when he realized that his company’s patients were not able to do the same. After spending an entire month searching for and reviewing apps on the market, he realized that many apps claimed to be the best medical record managers, but none allowed users to have paper records scanned, nor to retransmit those records by fax or encrypted email.

That same day he began writing down ideas that would ultimately become our consolidated medical records concept. Empower One was born.

In the last year he and the advisory board have worked with many talented people and achieved significant milestones as a result.

October 2015 – Steve began an instensive study of existing ideas and solutions in the health care industry.

2016 – A year of research and business planning ensued. He met with future advisory board members. An interim, chronic care business, MedAdvocate LLC, launched and closed due to lack of access to medical records.

April 2017 – Empower Health Care, Inc. was registered as a C-corporation in Virginia.

November 2017 – The advisors received and reviewed an initial draft investor "pitch deck" (a kind of digital slide show) for a digital Empower Health Care concept.

February 2018 – The team formed the Empower One concept -- a scaled down plan from the original Empower Health Care concept intended to get a medical record management solution on the market as quickly as possible.

June 2018 – We explored crowdfunding and chose Fundable.com as our host.

September 2018 – The advisory board met to discuss details of Empower One, fundraising goals, and the timetable.

January-June 2019 – We finished drafting the Fundable.com profile, renewed discussions with primary vendors, and developed a plan for promoting the Fundable crowdsourcing campaign to our friends and associates, and their friends and associates, and ... you get it.

July-August 2019 – We finalized the details of the Empower One crowdfunding "ask" and forwarded them to the Board of Advisors for review.

September 2019 – Empower One launches its crowdfunding campaign on Fundable.com!

January 2020 – With funding in hand and hundreds of future users cheering us on, we wind down Empower One and activate Empower Two, Inc.

February 2020 – Our coding vendors begin work on the Empower software under the watchful eye of our quality control vendor. We also engage with a marketing vendor experienced in working with software-as-a-service business such as ours to help us conduct focus groups and develop a proposed marketing plan.

August 2020 – With a "minimum viable product" -- our beta prototype software -- in hand, Empower Two ramps up the search for private equity funding to support the commercial operation of its successor, Empower Health Care, Inc. (EHC or Empower) as a going concern. We will also finalize our selection of candidates for the EHC Board of Directors.

January 2021 – With venture capital secured, Empower will engage a marketing firm experienced in working with software-as-a-service (SaaS) businesses to implement a complete regional marketing campaign.

April 2021 – Empower Health Care will launch in Alexandria and Annandale, Virginia as the world’s only medical records software that empowers users to upload, search, and securely provide records to whoever they choose using their mobile devices and computers.

Empower One will soon be making headlines and gaining steam -- but we need your help to make it to the finish line! By backing Empower One, you will not only have our undying gratitude; you will also enjoy the lasting satisfaction of having a hand in the growth of our unique company. Below we explain some of our goals for the coming months -- which we can only achieve with your help!

The last year has proven that there is a market for our technology. But we need capital to get coding and testing done! Having a successful Fundable.com campaign will allow us to build the platform and have it available for testing.

We have technical tasks left to tackle to continue to improve Empower and keep pace with industry standards, at a cost of $108,200:

Hire a quality assurance company to develop the technical requirements for the Empower platform
Hire our vendor to code the software
Contract with other specialized software vendors to maximize our software's security and flexibility
Run scanning and transmission testing.

We also have what we call "support" tasks to get done to position ourselves to seek private equity funding for operations, at a cost of $97,500:

Prepare marketing materials to reach out to potential private equity funders and further develop our ultimate marketing plan
Obtain legal advice on important matters such as trademarking the Empower software and negotiating with potential funders
Fund our back office operations

Empower One is different. It is dependable, secure, and always there for you. It is a tool paid for by you and only accountable to you. We do not sell advertising and we do not sell your data—EVER. Except for those you designate to have access, Empower is "one way in and one way out", through you.

Empower One is simple. Our product allows you to control and manage your medical records from anywhere in the world. It works with most facsimile (fax) machines manufactured in the past 25 years. Empower One also allows you to send encrypted emails of your medical records to up to 20 recipients at once. You don’t have to worry about it being compatible with your providers' patient portals; just save your documents to our thumb drive or your computer’s hard drive and upload them to the Empower One platform.

Empower One thinks for you. Receive push notifications to your iPhone or Android when a new record has posted to your account or a transmission is successfully sent. When you log off, your account is secure from access attempts by any non-authorized persons. Open your records again with the swipe of a finger.

Empower One is meant to be shared. Give access to your family, friends, advocates, and attorneys, if you like. Never worry again about not being able to send documents from your portal or having to request another fax from your doctor. Always keep track of who accessed your records and when.
