The Federal Government has targeted Inbound Tourism as a means to increase our   Balance of Trade by  increasing our export earnings. The Federal Government has targeted China, Brazil, Mexico and Canada as primary countries where they are expecting an increase in tourism. It has been observed that inbound tourism from China particularly has increased exponentially. In 2011 the jump  in tourist arrivals jumped by 40% from the same period the previous year and in 2012 it increased by 46% over 2011. 2013 is expected to be a record year!

Jobs have gone out of the country, manufacture has also moved out and cheap goods flooded the market, the balance of payments have heavily moved in favor of China. All other emerging economies are eyeing the USA to dump their goods due to the purchasing power of the US consumer. This has created wealth in those countries and the newly affluent needs to find ways and means of spending their new found wealth. This has got me thinking!

The quickest way to exploit this situation and get some of our money back is to do it in an intelligent way. China bashing or condemning free market forces does not help. Lets make use of these free market forces to our advantage as well. When people start getting wealthy, what do they want to do? They want to do what the wealthy does. After buying their new house and the luxury car, they now need to take up the rich mans game – Golf. They want to hob knob with the Joneses, they want to visit America and play golf in the famous golf courses. They want to have the bragging rights of saying I played golf at Pebble Beach, at Torrey Pines etc. They would love to say that they played Golf with the Pros in a Pro-Am, hang a picture of them playing golf with one of the current top professionals in the PGA.  They like to visit the land of plenty and do the things that they have heard that Celebrities do. They like to go to Las Vegas spend money in the casinos, see the best shows and do the fun things that they have only heard of. They would love to visit the wine country in San Francisco. Maybe take a luxury cruise too! Shop in the best designer shops in South Coast Plaza and othe outlets.

Emerald Tours will arrange all that and more. We have tied up with all the top golf destinations in California and the top hotels next to them to provide them with the comfort that they desire. We work closely with an organization that could arrange for the Pros to play with Amateurs.

In this manner we can bring back some of the money that the USA has lost to these countries. After all, why not use the assets that we have to induce some of that money back to our country?

Due to the brilliant climate we have in Southern California, where one can play golf virtually 365 days of the year, everyone loves to come and play golf in our beautifully manicured and breathtakingly beautiful golf courses. When I visited China and South Korea in late 2012, I was amazed and the knowledge they had about golf courses particularly in California. They indicated that they would love to play at Pebble Beach, Riviera, Torrey Pines, Pelican Hills, Aviara etc. etc.

Now I know that Golf Holidays is not a original idea, but it certainly has not been exploited to its maximum by targeting the brilliant courses  by the coastal line between Los Angeles and San Diego, Pebble Beach in San Francisco and of course Spy Glass Hill. The fact that people can play golf 365 days of the year is such beautiful weather plus of course the exotic settings of Hawaii and Palm Springs is a tremendous hook. Temper this with some sun and fun in Las Vegas a visit to the wine country and a visit to the southern beaches could put the lid on a memorable tour.

And this is exactly what we have arranged, sparing no pains to put together some memorable packages of durations of 7 to 10 days, providing luxury accommodation either next to the golf courses or on the courses themselves where ever possible.

The golfing community in Southern California are very excited about this and are givng us all the encouragement to bring in these fastidious but high spending tourists from all over the world.

To make this project a success, I have put together a very efficient and experienced team of specialists.  I work very closely with the hotels and the golf courses to ensure that everything goes off without a hitch and have some very experienced Chinese speaking tour Guides who will at all times accompany the tourists according to the itinerary.

I have a  partner in China a Caucasian who is married to a Chinese lady and he starts operations full time with effect from 10th March 2013. He will use the connections  he has in the golf industry of China having  been involved in running golf tournaments, coaching and  managing golf clubs for over 20 years in china, to sell our packages directly to the consumer with whom he has a close relationship.  I have struck a deal with him and he will channel business to Emerald Tours by selling our packages and we will in turn share the profit of each venture on a 50-50 basis. In this manner, he does not have to concern himself with the operational side which will be handled entirely by Emerald Tours.

My other partner  was the Director of Trade Commerce and Tourism in the Orange County who   has now retired after 25 years of service and joins Emerald Tours as Director Marketing with effect from 1st March 2013 He has excellent contacts in the tourism industry having worked closely with people all over the world.  I have offered his a profit share of 40% of all business that he introduces to the company. This agreement will stand for  12 months after which he will be entitled to buy 20% of the company’s stock at market price.

The Coordinating Manager of the company  works on the costing under my guidance. I have negotiated contracted prices for certain hotels that we work with and wholesale prices from Golf Clubs which are incorporated into the costing. He has been involved in Tourism for many years is well versed with the tourism business.  We have two Chinese interpreters cum Tour guides available on call.

We are expecting to bring in our first group of golfers to visit in May 2013 from China and expect a regular flow from then on.

We are the main marketing tool for the Saturday Series Pro-Am. The Saturday Series offers golf amateurs the opportunity of playing with current PGA Pros. There are 48 openings for each event and participants get the opportunity of playing 18 holes with these famous golfers, having breakfast and lunch with them get golfing tips and pose for photographs with them. This is very popular with enthusiasts.

We are also proud to announce that we are going to be working closely with the Veritas Junior Golf Organization that is hosting a golf tournament and extravaganza in July this year at Tustin Ranch and are expecting 250 Junior participants and their parents. We will be assisting them with hotel bookings, transportation and evening entertainment.

Now a little bit about myself. I am not just a pretty face. I have over 25 years experience as a President/CEO/Managing Director. Most of my experience has been outside the country as I came from Sri Lanka at the age of 52. I rose from the bottom to the very top and managed large corporations which employed over 100,000 people which included top managers, engineers, doctors lawyers etc.

I have managed industries that included, Agriculture, food processing, Apparel manufacture and export, engineering, travel and tourism to name a few. This country did not recognize my qualifications and experience and was extremely unrelenting when it required educational qualifications and experience from the USA. I acknowledged that as the system and did not try to fight it, although I was a little disappointed. I dabbled in small projects, went to Dubai and did some Travel and tourism and also made some money in Real Estate. I was there for two years and returned when the recession hit Dubai!

I am now ready to make my my mark in the American Economy, and I know that I can make a tremendous impact very soon.
