What We Do

Dapper Media is a smartphone application development company. Our feature and lead application will be DapperDown which is a fashion social network that is not out to replace the other leading social media platforms, but to work with and network with them to create a real to life fashion experience.

How It Works

The main function of Dapper Down will be its social factor. Users will be able to write micro blogs about fashion or general discussion with other users. Hash tags and pictures uploaded by users will enable other users to quickly locate new products easier. This will improve likely hood to purchase. By generating “likes” and mentions; brands, products and stores will be rated in a trending area allowing users to communicate directly with companies on what items are popular and who is purchasing their merchandise. When first signing into the application, users will be prompted with the option to sign in with their Facebook account or create an account using their email address. Once in, users will see feed information that is generated by their friends and companies they choose to follow. Users will be able to upload pictures, tag in locations or post general status updates. This information will be the key to success of Dapper Down, and will set the foundation for the rest of the application. Dapper Down will be attractive to the fashion savvy by keeping users updated with current trends, whereabouts of desired products and merchandise release dates. Dapper Down will also attract member’s not so fashion inclined by offering discounts and sale notifications through company partnerships, and letting users compete with other users by gathering badges and earning virtual cash. Companies will be able to push ads and special offers directly to customers they know like their brands by tracking what the user tags and looks at. Users will be motivated to continue using the app by earning “style points”, which will be earned by checking in and purchasing certain products. Points will also be earned by users receiving “likes” on their pictures and purchases by other users. These points will earn members badges and in app purchasing power to purchase virtual products. In the application users will be able to take pictures of themselves or items they see and upload them directly to their profile or timeline. Since this app is a fashion based app, the camera feature will allow users to edit and apply filters to their pictures to enhance artistic view and feel of photos. This feature will boost user’s desire to take pictures and show off their artistic photos. Photos will be tagged with hash tags of brands or products which will be used for market tracking. Dapper Down will be available for free in the Apple App Store to increase downloads. Dapper Down focuses on fashion as well as social interaction, generating leads to fashion brands and products creating potential sells. Dapper Down’s market can be segmented into two groups: the first is adults ages 25-34, and second is high school teens. These two industries have been chosen because they are the biggest online shoppers, social media users and smartphone owners. These two markets have been chosen because they possess the greatest likelihood of using our mobile app. • Adults Age 25-34- This market owns 66% of smartphones. Both men and women in this age group spend around $1,000 a year online. Dapper Down will allow men and women to find clothing items in one location without searching multiple sites or stores. • High School Teens- 28% of teen spending went to clothing and shoes in 2011. 80% of teen internet users are on social media; likewise friends and the internet were the top sources of purchases for teens. Dapper Down will be social while allowing teens to find popular products and stores.

History, Traction, & Why We're Raising

Dapper Media has been working on the development of this application for 6 months. We are currently in the prototype stage and have already began developing the application. We have formed partnerships with several clothing lines and outlets that are interested in testing and using the app. The money will be used to finish development of the application and to market the app to ensure maximum exposure and success potential.
