INTRODUCTION

For those of you we haven't met yet, let us introduce ourselves. We are Biker Beer Brewers. Gary Ludwig (“The Beer") and Janice Schorr (“The Brains"). We are a Veterans Owned Business. We started brewing standard style beer in 2006 and  Traditional German, and Belgium styles beers in 2008. Now we want to show people what we can do with our own line of beers. Our beers will be handcrafted in small batches with an emphasis on experimentation and quality. Our goal is to challenge the assumptions of what beer can be while still paying homage to traditional styles.

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT

Well lets not kid ourselves. There are some very good breweries in the Salt Lake area making some great beer.

Our plan is to compliment what they are doing with traditional German, and Belgium style beers. We plan on filling in some of the niches, trying experimental recipes, and of course focusing on the traditional beers for our own guilty pleasures. We plan to have fun and experiment with our beers, we'll have several of our favorite local hard ciders to offer to keep a well balanced menu. Speaking of menu, we will offer our own style German comfort food! That way we'll have something for the non-beer drinkers that you might bring long.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to provide an entertaining place to kick back and drink some great beer. We plan to have a 12-14 seat bar, another 35 or so seats with tables, and an outside Beer Garden with 20 or so seats and tables, with an old German style atmosphere. We'll be offering home brewing classes two to three times a month for those who are interested in learning how to brew their own beer.

A HISTORY OF BEER IN UTAH

A History of Beer in Utah

by Richard Markosian

Utah was once the beer capital of the Western United States.  Utah and its rich history of the beer industry providing jobs, education and quality products dates back to the 1880s.

Very few people realize that Utah was once home to some of biggest and best breweries in the Western United States,” says Del Vance, author of  Beer in the Beehive. Prior to prohibition, Utah was home to three major Breweries. Becker, Fisher Brewing and Salt Lake Brewing Company were all world-class operations, satisfying the unquenchable thirst of the many miners working in the western United States. Miners burned an estimated 4,000 calories per day, and beer was their liquid nourishment. Utah was once home to 15 breweries of various size and character. For the scope of this article we focus on two of the largest: Becker Brewing and the Salt Lake Brewing Company.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are so close to bringing this into reality. We have identified a few potential locations within the Salt Lake Valley as well as refined and finalized our beer recipes. Now, we need your help to build our Taproom and Brewery.  With your donations we can begin the nessesary steps to begin production of delicious brews and to serve you, the beautiful people of Salt Lake City.

$50,000 will be enough to accomplish our initial steps of securing a location, and begin some of the much needed remodeling and renovation for the Brewery and Taproom. Anything beyond this will help us get the doors open even sooner. We will also be donating 5% of everything raised here to local charities who have captured our hearts.

We have secured partial funds with owner and private investments. So these particular funds will be used soley to secure the location and get our taproom open.  Our total goal is $260,000 which will allow us to be fully functional and brewing beer by end of Summer 2019.
