By taking a standard pair of eyeglasses and enhancing it by adding a secondary set of lenses to the frames, Advanced Vision has found a way you two complete sets of eyeglasses for the price of one.

Over the course of his 30-year career as a practicing optometrist, Advanced Vision Founder and CEO Dr. Steven Cohn grew accustomed to hearing the same complaint from many of his patients who were frustrated that one pair of high-priced eyewear wasn't enough: they would have to buy two in order to meet all of their vision correction needs. This frustration is especially familiar to older glasses wearers, who frequently require one pair of prescription glasses for reading, another pair for driving, and sometimes even a third  pair for wearing in the sun.

Many bifocal or progressive lenses are available, but they sacrifice the size of your visual field, and a lot of bifocal users have a hard time adapting to the split field vision. In total, purchasing all of the eyewear you need can reach hundreds, potentially thousands, of dollars.

Another option is photochromic lenses, like Transitions Lenses, that turn dark in the sunlight and clear indoors automatically. However, these lenses are not polarized, do not get as dark as a good pair of actual sunglasses, don’t turn darker inside vehicles (because of blocked UV rays from the windshield) and are generally seen as unattractive.

Advanced Vision eyewear is the ultimate solution to the problem of multiple eyewear needs. Our innovative AV eyewear includes two lenses in one pair of glasses. With a simple swing of a lens, fully near-sighted glasses can become fully far-sighted, and regular glasses can become prescription sunglasses – no ugly, automatic transitioning required. With the AV lens, you get two fully functioning, integrated glasses for the price on one.

AV eyewear consists simply of permanent spectacle lenses and a swinging auxiliary set of lenses.

When not in use, the auxiliary lenses rest neatly in a fitted pod in the temples of the frames, allowing full use of the permanent lens. When needed, the auxiliary lens swing on a hinge and lock right in front of the permanent lens, switching to different prescription strength, to sunglasses, or to whatever option you need. 

Frames will be available in stylish, lightweight designs with the same feel of regular glasses, but with added bonuses. While we are still in prototype mode, we guesstimate that AV glasses will retail for a wholesale price of about $125 - $175 per pair, a fraction of the cost of what two full sets of glasses usually cost.

The AV glasses concept was created by AV CEO Dr. Steven Cohn. After years practicing optometry, he saw great demand from patients for this exact product. Recently, he has prepared a proof of concept and nearly completed a product prototype with two respective companies. Upon full prototype completion, Steven has numerous professional contacts in the industry that can aid in product reach and marketing.

The unique eyewear was provisionally patented in January 2014 and utility patented in December 2014. No one else is making glasses with this exact concept, so there is virtually no competition.
