Abe Computer Company is a new technology company bringing innovative solutions to the often complex world of computer programming.

We are currently working on a revolutionary editing program we call Abe the Abstracting Editor. This new editing software acts as a visual labeler, focusing less on the language of computer programming and more the design of software structure. The result: a more seamless, error-free programming process.

In the technical world of computer programming, programmers frequently get lost in a sea of complexity.

When writing code for a computer program, software developers and programmers must hold the structure of the program they are working on in their heads. Because of this, it is common for code writers to lose track of different variables and what roles they play in relation to other variables, resulting in a slower, more error-prone procedure. This process is not ideal for us or for our customers.

At one time, users had difficulty controlling their computers, and the computer industry responded by inventing better languages:  Bourne, C shell, Korn.  Users weren't substantially helped though until the computer industry invented the Graphical User Interface, the GUI.  That's the mouse and the pictures on the screen we can click, that we are all familiar with.  These days, programmers are having difficulty writing programs, and the computer industry has responded by inventing better languages:  Ruby, Python, Erlang.  Programmers haven't been substantially helped though, and we are going to be the ones to provide a GUI to write programs.

At Abe Computer Company, we believe that a computer program shouldn’t be a bunch of text a programmer manages with an editor. Rather, it should be a bunch of objects and relationships that are managed with a tool designed for that purpose. That is why we are working on a program that fuses GUI and text editing into one, easy-to-use editor we call Abe the Abstracting Editor. Abe the Abstracting Editor is designed to help programmers keep track of how one piece of code is related to another, and how the overall structure of the program looks by grouping individual lines of code into larger, coherent sections. This new tool will allow computer programmers and developers to write and edit code in a much faster and error-free way.

Abe the Abstracting Editor works like a puzzle. It replaces sections of programming code with meaningful labels. The different colored labels make it much easier for the programmer to see how one section fits in relation to the surrounding sections. When the programmer is done looking, one click brings the code back in place of the label. With Abe the Abstracting Editor, it’s no longer a memory task of understanding program structure.

The idea for this program started with a coworker named John. John was responsible for a program that ran nightly. Every night, the program would fail. But John couldn’t find the bug, and his boss was ready to fire him. Finally, John printed the whole program out on paper, ran it from his kitchen, through his den and into his living room. He then took a fistful of colored markers and marked everything in a different color. After he got the whole sheet marked, John stood back and saw the problem in about five minutes. We decided this solution needed to be applied to a functional program, and Abe the Abstracting Editor was born.

In addition to its groundbreaking method of editing, Abe the Abstracting Editor includes many other benefits:

Adaptability. Using very simple, popular computer languages, we can address all the different laptops that people use, without writing a separate program for each one. In addition for the programmer, we offer the same editor across a broad range of computer languages, so he or she won’t have to change editors as he or she changes computer languages or platforms, as was standard in the past.

Uniqueness. Our abstracting feature is one that no one else offers or can easily offer as it requires a tricky data structure.

Affordable Quality. Usually, programmers have to choose between a reliable editor that they can’t afford on their own nickel (Visual Studio) or a glitchy editor that’s cheap (Eclipse).  With the proper exploitation of HTML5, we can have a wide enough market penetration that we can afford to offer a reliable editor at an attractive price point.

Abe Computer Company and our subsequent product, Abe the Abstracting Editor is in the product-development phase. We are a driven team with years of business management and software development experience. We have a patentable data structure for our editor and a solid business plan moving forward. In the coming months, we will be ramping up our development and beginning our quest to make Abe the Abstracting Editor available to the world of computer programmers.
